I was 20 years old when I first heard of Swami. I used to go to a local church on Saturdays where people of all faiths would gather to speak about spirituality and meditate, sending light to the world. On one occasion, I decided to go on a Thursday and an unknown group was there showing pictures and sharing stories about a ‘Sathya Sai Baba’. I listened and the only thing I remembered was what one woman said, "He can perform miracles. He will listen and give you what you want, especially if you pray for a child. He loves children." I went home and started praying to win the lottery! Of course, it never happened! You can imagine my confusion. "He gives us everything?" I thought, "I don’t believe it!" I went on with my life without considering giving Swami a second chance… |

In July 1991, my two-year-old daughter became gravely ill. She was feverish, would not eat well and would vomit anything she was able to eat. She had to walk with her back bent forward because her stomach would hurt her. I took her to emergencies the first time. I was sent back home with instructions that she had the flu and I was to give her Tylenol and fluids until it would clear. The next day something told me to take her to emergencies again. The same physician sent me home with the same instructions. Almost five days passed thus. Then my mother and I went to Mexico (I live in a border city in the States) to take my daughter to another paediatrician. The blessed doctor saw her, and told me to take her quickly to the hospital (in the States). There I was to ask for Dr. Canales and tell him that my daughter had appendicitis and needed to go into surgery immediately. So we went again to the same hospital and asked for Dr. Canales. In less than two minutes, Dr. Canales knew what was wrong with my daughter. It was much worse than appendicitis. I wish I could remember the technical term. Her colon was reversed. Her faeces were being directed inwardly where it was staying inside her. She was rushed to surgery and Dr. Castillos then took over. I was praying fervently to Mother and Father God. Dr. Castillos finally came out and told me that my daughter was very sick. He did not know if she would get well. She had to be placed in intensive care. I was in shock! It all felt like a bad dream.... Please read

IMPRESSIONS ...I have never seen him in person… unless he was that person I saw in 1995 here in my city. I felt the urge to tear myself away from this body in order to merge with the spirit within that person. ‘I am not mother, I am not sister, I am not wife, I am not Norma’, I heard him whisper in my mind… but that is another story for another time. v Norma Garibay, from El Paso in Texas, USA |
